Facing Performance Anxiety
Masterclass
As part of its commitment to supporting young artists and promoting professional artistic development, CANTOS Foundation for Arts & Development organized a free Masterclass for youth engaged in or passionate about the fields of music and performing arts. The program welcomed performers, musicians, music students, theatre practitioners, and emerging artists seeking to enhance both their artistic and performance skills.
The Masterclass was presented by two distinguished international musicians and educators:
Dr. Christina Ebersohl-Van Scyoc
Melissa Terrall
The event featured two specialized sessions addressing essential aspects of artistic performance.
Body Mapping for Artists
Lecturer: “Dr. Christina Ebersohl-Van Scyoc”
This session introduced participants to the principles of Body Mapping, helping artists develop a more accurate understanding of body movement while making music or performing. Through practical demonstrations and guided exercises, participants explored efficient movement techniques that reduce unnecessary tension, prevent physical strain, improve technical performance, and support greater artistic expression.
Facing Performance Anxiety
Lecturer: “Melissa Terrall”
Melissa Terrall led an engaging and interactive workshop focused on understanding and managing performance anxiety. Participants learned practical mental and physical strategies for preparing before performances, building confidence on stage, and transforming nervous energy into expressive performance.
Interactive Coaching Session
Following the presentations, participants took part in a series of interactive coaching sessions. Selected musicians and performers presented their work and received personalized feedback from both instructors. The professors provided constructive comments, technical guidance, and artistic recommendations, allowing participants to apply the concepts discussed throughout the Masterclass directly to their own performances.
